DVD Case Expectations

To create a completely custom DVD case that is entirely unique to you. You may use a TV show or movie but you may not use any form of cartoon or anime. Real people must be in this film.
Choose your favorite

Decide on a movie or TV show that you would like to design for, this should be something that you are very familiar with and have an honest interest in. You can utilize any pictures from the movie and can take screen shots from the movie if you would like to.

This case should look nothing like the original and should be your own concept.

Requirements

You are required to blend a minimum of 7 images together in order to make a single cover for your DVD. Then you will make a total of 3 covers for the same film in order to give your clients options. Type must be completely unique and nothing like the original case. Once the cover is completed we will take the look onto the back and focus on the layout of a lot of information on a small surface. 

Design should include
  • A front cover - consisting of typical information (starring actors, production logos, explicit stickers, etc...)

  • A Spine - including the name of the product and any logos needed.

  • A back cover - including a synopsis of the product, bar code, featured actors or special features, credit text, etc...

  • Interesting typography on the name of the product and through out

  • Consistency between all of the elements, front, back and spine should look like they belong together.

Techniques
  • Adjustment layers done correctly

  • Layer Masks

  • Smart objects with at least one smart filter

  • Blending Modes

  • Use of the shape tool

  • All type must be created by you, choose different fonts than what are standard on the computer

    (ex. dtripp_dvd)

  • File Size: Use template below

  • Orientation: Landscape

  • Color Mode: CMYK

  • Resolution: 300 ppi

  • File Format: .psd & .jpeg

What to turn in

Photoshop File (.psd)

JPG image (.jpg)

This can not grade this assignment properly without a PSD file. In order to get full credit you need to attach two files to this assignment below is how to create those files.
