  • PR Workspace

Goal of the Tutorial: In this Lesson we are going to look at the basic Interface of Adobe Premiere Pro. I know that this program can look intimidating but once you get use to where things are it is surprisingly simple in it's design. Let's give it a look.

No files to download today, just open Premiere Pro

  • PR - Timeline

Goal of the Tutorial: In the lesson today we are going to be working with a few still images and effects. We will be editing them in a "Ken Burns" type slide show. This will be the first time you get a good look at Adobe Premieres capabilities.

    • 8 copyright free images minimum that highlight your chosen subject created in the Ken Burns style

  • Audio & graphics

In this lesson we will take a look at how to work with Audio and the basic functions of the Essential Graphics panel. Using these options you can alter your audio in unique ways and create gYou will be required to use everything you have learned in this lesson on your coming project so keep up.

  • In this lesson we will work towards a better understanding of the source panel and how we can use it to make editing into our timelines easier. This will include creating bins, subclips and use of In and Out points.

  • In this lesson we are going to experiment with creating keyframes and hopefully gain a greater understanding of what they are and how they can be used. Keyframes are the core of animation within this program and without an understanding of them your videos will look generic.

Masking & Subtitles

  • Masking & Opacity

In today's lesson we will take a look at basic masking and how we can crop and edit videos in order to create certain effects. This will use the pen tool in a different way than you may be use to. Layering, masking and using your blending modes can create looks for your videos that no one else will be able to replicate.

  • Thieving Clones

Today we are going to take a deeper look at how to use your masks in order to create clones that are believable and interactive with each other. This will include using keyframes to move and alter masks to give the impression of motion between clips.

  • Today we are going to look at how to create closed captions and open subtitles. Afterwards we are going to apply open subtitles to the video below. This may take a couple of class periods in order to complete correctly. You will need to add subtitles to the entire video that is attached.

Techniques

  • Adjustment layers

Today we are going to look at adjustment layers and how they can be used to work in a non-destructive manner within the Premiere workspace. This is a great way to add an effect or color grade to your film as a whole or to individual areas of your film without affecting the actual clips themselves.

  • Markers

In this lesson we are going to look more at how to match your visuals to your audio by creating a lot of edits in a short period of time. Using marker will help us alot by lining up our edits with the beats of the music.

  • In this lesson we are going to look at the Ultra Key Effect (commonly referred to as chroma key or green screen) This allows you to cut out a certtain color from your videos in order to create transparency. This doesn't necessarily need to be green in order to create this effect, it just has to be a color that is not present in the rest of the video.

Film Challenges

  • Film Challenge 5

The goal of a challenge is to get you use to a subject by creating your own version of it. Today I am asking you to film yourself in a way that will allow you to mask yourself properly. Watch the tutorial video and then complete the task.

  • Film Challenge 4

Today we will look at a few different filming methods to help in the creation of your horror film. The most important of which is lighting. You will need to be able to create unique lighting scenarios using whatever you have on hand. I will show you a few examples of this.
