Adobe Illustrator

Adobe Illustrator gives everyone the ability to be an artist. It doesn't matter if you can draw or not, everyone has the capability to be an illustrator. With a little practice with the pen tool you will find yourself creating things you never thought possible though vector art.

The Basics

    In this lesson we are going to take a much deeper dive into the pen and pencil tools so that you can determine which is better for your style of illustration. Follow along with the instructions in the video (pause where needed).

  • In this lesson we will explore the Pen tool & Blob Brush tools within Adobe Illustrator. This will give a from scratch look at how to create vector graphics while gaining a better understanding of anchor points and handlebars.

Intermediate Lessons

    In this lesson we will take a closer look at how to create and manipulate different shapes within Adobe Illustrator.

    On the surface these are very simple tools that you should already understand from Photoshop but the are not the same. Specifically these shapes which are Vector Graphics made from Anchor Points.

  • In this lesson we will take a basic look at the type tools and the different things that you can do with them. We will also spend a little time talking about typography and how using your text can draw your audience in, get attention as well as delivering your clients message.

     

    You have a huge potential to be creative with type.

    Watch the video to gain and understanding of what is expected. You are to trace only the shadows or darker areas in your face. When completed delete the background picture. If your trace doesn't really look like you, hit command+Z (MAC) or control+Z (PC) to get the picture back and make it look right.

Advanced and Challenges

    Often times Illustrator is the first step for creating detailed animations and cartoons. We will look at basics of environment creation, building scenes that your characters may walk through. Please follow along in class today.
