Adobe Photoshop
Adobe Photoshop is a gateway to your imagination. You can literally create anything you an imagine but just need to understand what tools are in the tool box. In these tutorials I will show you many of the tools and will demo how they can be used. Below you can download all of the files and follow along with each tutorial.
Crash Courses
The goal of this tutorial is to throw a lot of information at you quickly so that you get a rough understanding of Adobe Photoshop. I do not expect you to remember everything from this video, but I do hope you get a basic understanding of the layers panel and Photoshop. In this video I will walk you quickly through a lot of features in Adobe Photoshop while creating a postcard.
Together we will set up an optimal workspace that we will all use by find the most commonly used panels and setting them up in an advantageous way. Then we together do the tools crash course document in order to get an understanding of what the tools are capable of doing. Again this is a crash course and I don't expect you to remember everything discussed, we will go over everything again in more detail.
This is the last crash course we will do, after this things will slow down to a more reasonable pace and we will go into greater detail about the little things. Remember that crash courses are designed to throw a lot at you in the hopes that you get a basic understanding of the program quickly. I do not expect you to remember every detail of this information.
Today we are going to take a better look at images and what they are in relation to graphic design and photoshop. We are also going to dig into layer masking and adjustment layers in order to gain a quicker understanding of what they are and how to use them correctly.
Basic Functions
Photo restoration is one of the most fulfilling jobs we do as graphic designers. Imagine the last picture you have of your family is falling apart or damaged, what would that picture restored mean to you? Fixing cracks and water damage can be challenging but being able to see your family clearly again can mean everything.
Today we are going to look at what smart objects are and how to work with them appropriately, we will look at how to work within smart objects and how to apply smart filters and adjustment layers to them.
Using your smart filers and smart objects appropriately can save you hours of having to redo something. This is called working in a non-destructive manner and doing so will make sure you never have to start over from scratch again.
Techniques and Challenges
I want you to take what you have been taught over the last couple of days and use it in a practical way by designing your very own shoe. These shoes should looks good, with all white areas colored (No white allowed, try light grey.) I want to see that you understand how to download and install brushes, and that you can operate the brush & selection tools well.
Make this design your own, style it however you would like.
Review and Advanced Lessons
Today we are going to look back at some of the major things we have covered in order to make sure that you are grasping all of the concepts being thrown at you, as well as to remind you of some things that you may have forgotten over this extended break. We will look again at layer masking, blending modes, selection & type tools. We will do this while designing a concert ticket. You can feel free to choose your own artist, imagery or fonts.
